At most venues, there is a sound reinforcement system (PA) already set up, as in the case with many nightclubs.  Often, however, not every instrument is miked.  For example, in smaller clubs, drum overheads are generally omitted, as well as hi-hat mics, and sometimes snare and toms. Guitar amps that are loud enough are often not miked.  We add mics and direct boxes as required, to provide a comprehensive recording palate.  In theatrical venues, we can add stage apron mics, and other fixed specials.  Our direct boxes are of several different types, to suit specific applications.  And, of course, audience mics are definitely not part of the house system, but we add them to create fullness and realism to your recording.  Our selection of mics has been optimized to complement equipment typically provided by the venue.

The customer may, at no extra charge, substitute any mics he wishes to provide (though, if we have to rent the mics, we will charge the cost of the rental plus a surcharge).  Dynamic, ribbon, self-powered electret and 48-volt phantom mics may be substituted.  Please see the Equipment List for mics we currently offer.

We use Canare StarQuad cable in our individual mic cables, to provide the greatest isolation from lighting equipment and other induced interference.  We have over 800 feet of individual mic cable in 25- and 50-foot lengths. The main snakes are two 16 X 4, 125’ to interface the splitters to the preamps.  If fewer channels are required, these may be configured as a single 16 X 4 X 250’ snake.  If more cabling is required, it can, of course, be rented.  We use gold-plated Neutrik connectors on all of our cables.
